Research Focus
My research interests broadly include studying gene regulatory networks in Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato DC3000, the causal agent of bacterial speck in tomato. I am interested in studying the response of the pathogen to its ever-changing environment and how it finely tunes the expression of a particular set of genes for a particular response. The pathogen senses the extracellular environment with the help of ECF type sigma factors and other regulators. My research will focus on studying sigma factors and other regulatory genes such as gidA and gacS/A that are thought to be global regulators of the Pseudomonas syringae genome.
